  • The Nursery Nest - 30 Hour provision

    Wed 13 Dec 2017

We are delighted to announce that on January 3rd 2018 we are opening a new 30 hour nursery provision.  The 'Nursery Nest' will be located on our Sports Hall site, opposite the main school building.  Initially provision will be 9am to 3pm, term time only.  Should there be a demand for longer hours and holiday provision we will consider this in the near future.

The 'Nest' will be staffed by Short Wood staff, supported by a fully qualified teacher who will be working as part of the Early Years team at the school.  We are really excited as to the potential opportunities this new provision can offer.  If you are entitled to claim the 30 hours provision please contact our school office on 01952 387360.

  • School OPEN on Wednesday 13th December

    Tue 12 Dec 2017

We intend to reopen on Wednesday 13th December as weather forecasts are improving. If conditions significantly worsen overnight we will reassess in the morning. Whilst the forecast is better and main routes have been treated side routes may still be a challenge so please allow extra time for your journey to school tomorrow and be patient with each other. The site team have worked hard to clear the site but clearly conditions remain tricky.

Children need to be dressed appropriately for the weather, warm coats and outdoor footwear, which can be changed to indoor footwear once in school.

The Year 5 Victorian Christmas performance tomorrow evening has been cancelled however they will still get chance to share their performance during the church visits on Thursday and Friday and as part of Golden Leaf assembly on Friday.

Christmas lunch will hopefully be on Thursday, parties will be on Thursday too but we will not be asking children to bring food. We will confirm details when we return tomorrow.

Thank you for your patience and support, the safety of families and staff has to be a priority.

We look forward to seeing you tomorrow.

  • Snow Closure

    Mon 11 Dec 2017

In line with other schools locally, Short Wood is closed tomorrow, Tuesday 12th December.  This is due to concerns over the severe weather forecast overnight and the impact this could have on the safety of pupils and staff.

Toddler group's Christmas party will not go ahead due to the closure, this group will resume on January 9th.  Wednesday evening's Year 5 performance will not go ahead as planned due to the disruption this week and Christmas lunch will be served later in the week.

We will keep you updated with any further changes to previously arranged dates.

  • Rearranged performance dates

    Sun 10 Dec 2017

Due to the closure of school early on Friday and on Monday we have taken the decision to rearrange Key Stage 1 performances.  The dates are now as follows:

    • Classes 6 and 8 will now perform on Thursday 14th at 9.30am
    • Classes 12,14 and 16 will perform on Friday 15th at 9.30am

Thank you for your support.  The children and staff have worked so hard we want to give them every opportunity to have enough rehearsal time to make it a special performance to create magical memories.

  • Snow closure

    Sun 10 Dec 2017
In line with other local schools, on safety grounds, Short Wood will be closed tomorrow, Monday 11th December.  We hope by making an early decision families will be able to make appropriate plans.
