Literacy
Summer Term 1
In the Summer Term literacy will be focused around our topic Food Glorious Food. We will be undertaking both writing to inform and writing to entertain across the unit of work.
Year 1 children will cover the Tiger Who Came to Tea and Pumpkin Soup.
Year 2 children will cover The Disgusting Sandwich and Bloom.
At Short Wood Primary School we utilise 'Talk for Writing' which is an innovative approach to teaching writing developed by the literacy specialist and writer Pie Corbett. It uses high quality model texts to introduce the children to different story / text types which they then learn off by heart and scrutinise with a writer's critical eye
