Don Pablo delivers a special message about outdoor learning and shares an offer you just cant’ refuse!
As part of a current design and build project in a primary school, we are close to completing a new eco learning centre for children, teachers and families.
The new building will be an excellent base for outdoor learning and forest school activities. The whole curriculum will be enriched with Maths being delivered through Fibonacci principles and science lessons on the roof!
This project is part of an ongoing scheme of work called ‘Nature Knows Best’ which is an excellent example of making the most of the wonderful learning opportunities afforded us by Mother Nature.
The Nature Knows Best project inspired a fantastic new outdoor learning space called The Nest. The amazing space is situated on the lake and is a great way to take learning outside into something unique and inspiring.
The Nest was designed by children working alongside a creative team from Universal Learning and the design process itself saw a series of outstanding lessons produce outstanding results. The children produced a series of ideas and prototype designs and selected their favourite features from a variety of design options before producing a scaled model of their new outdoor ‘floating classroom’.
Using maths and engineering the team solved a series of problems and overcame challenges that present themselves when you are trying to build something that will load bear 5.5 tonnes! The Nest can hold class size groups comfortably and is design to nurture learning and get people closer to nature.
