Spring 2025.
Years 1 and 2.
We have been looking at seasonal changes and learning about the different parts of a plant. We named the trees around our school and planted some more to help prevent our field from flooding! We have been using the underwater camera to watch out for the Short Wood Pond Monster- Mr Saunders spotted it early one morning! We are going to clean up our pond so that the wildlife in it can have lots of good things to eat and plenty of places to hide!
Years 3 and 4.
We have been making pots in the same way as Iron Age people would have and developing our Forest School skills using hammers and ropes. We have been visiting Squirrel School to learn about rivers by measuring the flow and width of the stream there. We have enjoyed looking for minibeasts and finding out about the different soils along the stream.
Year 5.
Our polytunnel and garden areas are being transformed into a Dig For Victory Garden! We are busy planting vegetables and flowers and finding out what recipes we can use our produce in! We have been learning how to use tools safely so that we can use the wood we coppice - nothing was wasted during this time!
Year 6.
We enjoyed creating mythical beasts out of natural materials and using these as a stimulus for our written work. This term we are developing our outdoor areas and learning how to look after them. We have been pulling up brambles and nettles and planting new trees around the field to help prevent it flooding. We have also been monitoring the young trees around school and making sure their guards are secure and they are not overgrown.
