Year 2

Hi Everybody!

Today is supposed to be a lovely day so we have tried to plan some activities that you can do outside as well as inside.

Maths

This week you have been looking at fractions. Here are some fun fraction games you can play.

1. Represent fractions using different colour Lego.

2. Fraction dancing! Start with a large piece of paper and keep folding it in half to make it smaller, you are going to have to work hard to stay on the piece of paper while you dance!

Can you label the fractions as you go?

3. Fraction plates: Using paper plates or pieces of paper start colouring in and labelling your own fractions then put them on top of each other to find equivalent fractions.

For example 2/2 is the same as 1 whole.

4. Finally, for lunch why don't you have a fraction picnic? Cut your food items in to fractions to share them out with everybody.

Today is 'World Bee Day'. Bees are a really important part of our ecosystem and we should do everything we can to look after them.

This afternoon, why don't you try to design and make your own Bee Hotel (Or Air Bee & Bee...sorry, grown ups!). Remember bees like small spaces that remind them of a hive, so straws and rolled up paper are ideal for this.

Here are some designs to help you:
