“Some smart socks with diamonds up the sides.” The giant has some new socks in the story. How many diamonds does each sock have? The diamond pattern is a repeating pattern. If the sock was longer and had more diamonds what would be next in the repeating pattern? Design your own socks for the giant with a repeating pattern on them. You can use diamonds or any of our other 2D shapes.

3p 3p 2p
1p 1p 5p
These are the prices the giant has to pay for his new clothes at the shop. Which item costs the most? Which items cost the least? How much does it cost to buy the belt and the socks? How much does it cost to buy the shirt and the tie? How much does it cost to buy the trousers and the shoes? How much does it cost to buy all of the clothes?
It will be very helpful to use real pennies or counters to work out the answers to these questions. Please write down your answers. You can draw the coins and/or write the numbers.
