Tuesday 14th July

Good morning Year 5s and Year 6s.

Aim for a worry-free day today!

Today's tasks:

Reading

Read your book for half an hour.

Then make a poster showing the main characters.  You can draw and label them or just list them.  Can you find a way to show the links between characters?  Maybe colour coding or arrows to show family links or friendships?

Tables practice

Have another go at completing a tables grid up to 12 x 12.  Can you beat yesterday's time?

Arithmetic

Yesterday's answers

Fluency

1. 150

2. 89.42

3. 1/6

4. 9.94

5. 5/8

6. 8

Problem Solving

9 pizza bases

Today's challenge

Spelling

Carefully copy today's words - autumn, column, solemn - and circle the silent letter in each.

Look carefully at the second vowel in each word - they don't sound very clear when you say these words, so you just have to learn them!  Practise these 3 words today.

Maths investigation

Extension:  How many options would there be if you could have 3 scoops of ice cream?  Or 4? (Although that would be really difficult to eat without dropping it!)
