Stick Man by Julia Donaldson

The children enjoyed retelling the story of Stick Man using small world toys.

The children made sandcastles, putting Stick Man at the top. They counted how many scoops of sand they used and talked about how full or empty their pots were.

With a focus on particular numbers, in this case three, the children can develop good number sense.

The swans visit Short Wood

In the Stick Man story he is used to make a nest. The children were so excited to see the swans at Short Wood and even thought they had seen Stick Man floating on the water too and wanted to take a photo of him!
