Literacy

Write an adventure story based on a science lab

Your writing task is to continue the story. Firstly, plan what is going to happen; this will give structure to your story. 

Ancient Greece philosophers

Use the internet to create a factfile about an ancient Greek philosopher. 

Write a Greek story

Using all the facts you have learnt about the Ancient Greeks, write your own story. It could be about a Spartan warrior, an Athenian family or a famous philosopher.

 

When you are writing, please include the following features:

-A wide range of punctuation   A . , ; ! ? “ – ( )

-Relative clauses

-Varied sentence openers

-Technical vocabulary

-Sophisticated conjunctions (therefore, however, although, despite)

Literacy

Complete the writing tasks below:

  1. Plan and write a story based on your Greek mythical creature.
  2. Write a poem about your Greek mythical creature.
  3. Plan and write a newspaper report about schools having to shut due to the Coronavirus.
  4. Write a set of instructions on how to cure the Coronavirus. You can be as creative as you like!
  5. Create an advert for your cure.

Design a character profile of your Greek mythical creature / hero. Include their strengths, weaknesses, hobbies, character history, greatest victories, arch enemies etc.

Science

The heart. Children to view the Powerpoint (resource below) about the working of the heart and then design a poster for hospitals about how the heart works and how to keep your heart healthy .

If you own a tablet, download the Stop Motion app (for free) and create your own animation.

If you do not have a tablet, use Word or Powerpoint to word process one of your Literacy tasks.

Weekly overview

 

Reading Book and Reading Diary.

Please help your child to remember to bring their reading book and reading diary every day.

We would also like you to be reading at home each night and making an entry into your reading diary.

PE

Children need to remember to bring their PE kits every Monday and Thursday.

Homework

Maths and Literacy Homework will be handed out every Wednesday and returned every Monday. Children should also practise instant recall facts and times tables.

Water bottle

Please make sure your child brings a water bottle to school each day.
