In Year 5, our year topic is called 'In The Shadow of The Wrekin'.
We have read and talked about the myths that were told about how the Wrekin was created and today we went up the actual thing to learnt about it's origins and the people that occupied it. The most interesting fact we found out was that the Wrekin is millions of years old and is older than Everest! So much history lie within that great hill.
Along our walk, we picked blackberries, wood sorrel and collected spiky sweet chestnuts. We pretended to be Romans sneaking up the hill just like they did all those years ago. We had our lunch near the old round houses and soaked up the beautiful views of Shropshire. What a great day we had!
